Belgrade Participants

The Independent Association of Journalists (NUNS) hosted the first week of the two-week program.   There were 13 participants and they are shown below.

First row left to right: Jelena Trifunovic of the local TV station Rubin in Kikinda; Jasmina Prodanovic of NUNS; Sinisa Jelovac of the daily newspapers Glas javnosti in Belgrade.

Second row left to right: Lana Cetina of Radio and TV station B92 in Belgrade; Dragan Saric of local TV station Trstenik in Trstenik; Ljiljana Bukvic of daily newspaper Danas in Belgrade.

Third row left to right: Korom Maria of Radio and TV station Pannon in Subotica; Mirko Jovanovic of local radio and TV station TNT in Bela Crkva; Vesna Lapcic of the weekly newspaper Ekonomist magazin in Belgrade.

Fourth row left to right: Katarina Vojvodic, a student; Milos Steric of the weekly newspaper Zrenjaninske novine in Zrenjanin; Silvana Selkic of the monthly newspaper Status in Belgrade.  Pictured in the graduation photograph below (back row first left) is Milos Pesic of the weekly newspaper Evropa in Belgrade.  The newspaper went out of business one day before our workshop. This is a constant challenge for Serbia media.

My hosts in Belgrade (NUNS) were extremely supportive of the program. They were President Nadezda Gace (left below) and Djordje Padejski, coordinator of the Center for Investigative Reporting. Dorde (below center) is pictured to the left of investigative reporter Filip Svarm of VREME (black beard). NUNS also invited the national Ombudsman for In formation Rodoljub Sabic to the workshop (right photo). A constant source of good cheer and good food was Nada Kovac (front row left of graduation photo below) who served beverages during our breaks. Not pictured is Administrator Aleksandra Stoilovic who also was a constant source of support and friendship.

My interpreter in Belgrade, Masa Matisjasevic-Simic (below left) was extremely professional and a good friend during the first week of the program. Finally, my utmost appreciation is extended to Marina Sokovic, media assistant for the United States Embassy (below right). She worked with me continuously before and during the two-week program and is largely responsible for the success of this project.
